Recognised Defence Employer

The Open University (OU) signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2016 and we currently hold a Bronze award in the  Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, which encourages employers to support the Armed Forces community. 

This demonstrates the OU’s support to the Armed Forces community through being a Forces-friendly employer, and therefore, open to employing reservists, Armed Forces veterans (including wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and military spouses/ partners.

We are committed to looking at the requirements for the Silver award and in the meantime strive to do those things which, as a good employer, we’d naturally want to do.
