In December 2024, a new Research Data Management Policy for the OU came into force. The updated policy brings the OU into alignment with the FAIR data principles, and includes some new requirements for research staff and postgraduate research students:

  • A requirement for all projects to create a Data Management Plan

  • A requirement to generate a metadata-only record on ORDO for data preserved/shared elsewhere

  • A requirement to use an ORCID iD when publishing data, to unambiguously link data to specific researchers

  • Policy now covers software in addition to research data

  • Policy now covers scholarship in addition to research

Join Isabel Chadwick and Maxine Borton from the Library Research Support team to find out more about the new policy and how these requirements affect you, and an opportunity to ask questions.
