The OU Golf Society primarily runs between April and November arranging Society Days one day per month at quality courses around Bucks, Beds, Oxfordshire, Northants and Herts. Recent hosts to the society have been Buckingham, Aspley Guise & Woburn Sands, Whipsnade, John O’Gaunt and Woburn, so it’s an ideal opportunity to enjoy the challenge of new courses where you may not normally get the chance to play.
Costs for the days vary dependant on Green Fees and refreshment options, however prices are discounted for members who pay an annual membership.
Society days are played under various formats dependent on the competition. Mainly Stableford rules apply but team style Texas Scrambles and individual Stroke Play for the Club Championship are also adopted. Competitions are played in a friendly competitive nature with enjoyment of the day always the priority.
The society encourages and supports golfers of all standards to participate and as well as a full events programme, a pre-season coaching session is normally planned to get the swing going again after the winter. Membership is open to OU staff - including AL’s and Research Students - retired staff and family of OU staff. We also occasional have a limited number of spots for associate members.
As well as encouraging new members to come along and join us, we are also happy to welcome guests. We can’t offer them the discounts our members enjoy but we can offer a friendly atmosphere and some great days golfing.
