A Fund to support retired residents in Caithness and north Sutherland, aged 55 or over and who are studying for personal development, has made its first award – to an Open University student.

How I turned to a life of crime writing: Olga Wojtas at Bloody Scotland

“I didn’t realise I had written a crime novel until my publisher informed me, just before publication. I thought I had written a romp, albeit one with a significant number of murders.” Olga Wojtas, a former Open University creative writing student, will be one of four authors discussing their debut novels at a Bloody Scotland event this week.

Open University in Scotland Celebrates 50th Anniversary at Degree Ceremony

The OU is marking a historic milestone as it celebrates the 50th anniversary of its first-ever degree ceremony in Scotland. This year’s event will see 660 graduates cross the stage in Glasgow.
