Robin Wilson invited speaker at the 8ECM

Professor Robin Wilson is to give one of the invited public lectures for the Eighth European Congress of Mathematics (20–26 June 2021, Portorož, Slovenia) on European Mathematics: A History in 200 Stamps. The talk will be presented in person and streamed online for remote participants.

Along with the public lecture, Professor Wilson will curate a special mathematical-themed postage stamp exhibition at the 8ECM that will be on display for participants of the 8ECM, as well as the public.

Robin has a collection of some 1500 mathematical stamps, 460 of which can be viewed at Mathematical Stamps. For the past 37 years Robin has written a ‘Stamps Corner’ for the  Mathematical Intelligencer discussing the mathematics behind many of these stamps.
