Congratulations to Christian Cooke who completed his PhD degree on Mathematical modelling of electrical power system stability – Looking towards a zero carbon future and has secured a three-year postdoctoral position at The Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC) based at the University of Porto, Portugal. Christian's principal PhD supervisor was Ben Mestel. Christian's work at INESC TEC is summarised as follows.
Development of advanced simulation models for isolated power grids with energy storage and renewables; analysis of static and dynamic behaviour of these systems; development of applications to manage the support of these systems accounting for economic and security constraints. Part of the Horizon Europe Energy Project, i-STENTORE – innovative Energy Storage TEchnologies TOwards increased Renewables integration and Efficient Operation.
