Nora Frankl and collaborators organised the Early Career Researchers in Combinatorics workshop at the ICMS. The aim was to provide an opportunity for PhD students and postdocs to form new collaborations and generate new research in the areas of Extremal and Probabilistic, Geometric, and Structural Combinatorics. The organisers secured funding from the ICMS and other sources to cover accommodation and travel expenses for all 40 participants. Participants were asked to submit open problems alongside their application, some of which were presented and worked on during the workshop. The aim was to include a diverse mix of participants over a range of stages of PhD and postdoctoral research, and to foster a friendly environment in which to work on exciting open problems.
