Learn how to find specific resources and how to find information on a topic using Library Search.
Various organisations provide resources in different accessible formats, and some of these are linked below. These materials are intended to supplement Open University study materials.
RNIB
Provides a free Talking Book Service covering popular fiction, classics and non-fiction. Braille books, giant print books and music can also be borrowed free of charge.
CALIBRE
Audio library offering over 6,000 titles including plays, poems and classic novels. All books are available in digital format on MP3 CD, USB memory stick or via streaming. There is a one off charge to join the library.
Listening Books
For an annual fee, provides audiobooks on MP3 CD, or via download or streaming.
Bookshare
Bookshare is based in the U.S. and provides access to an online library of digital books for print disabled people. When logged in, a search will only retrieve books available for your particular country. An annual membership fee is charged.
RNIB Newsagent
National newspapers, magazines and specialist publications are provided to subscribers on CD, USB stick or via download.
Talking News Federation
Provides access to local and independent newspapers in audio format via cassette tapes, CDs or USB sticks. An annual fee is payable.
The National Council for the Blind of Ireland
Books in Braille and large print are provided as well as audio books on USB sticks or via download. A selection of books are also still available on CD and cassette tape.
