Couple Relationships in the 21st Century
The Enduring Love? project will use a combination of methods to research different dimensions of adult couple relationships in contemporary Britain, focusing people’s emotional experience and lived relationship practices.
We are using a qualitative mixed methods approach to access accounts of emotional life and everyday relationship practices. This will enable us to study realms of embodied social life which operate alongside talk, exploring shared and personal strategies of talking and not talking. More particularly our approach will draw upon a broad spectrum of research senses, encouraging opportunities to listen and hear, to look and see. This will afford insights into how emotional lives are experienced and the everyday practices of intimacy that combine to sustain relationships.
