Evil Forest (2000)

Summary: A widow gets an early warning to ward off eveil plans concerning her and her only daughter, but delays prayer. Her daughter is falsely accused of stealing at the Igwe’s palace and the two are banned from the village. After the mother dies in the bush, the daughter is sheltered in an adjacent village, but soon encouraged to go. Her innocence will eventually be recognised and her good behaviour richly rewarded. A film about the controversial aspects of tradition - the plight of widowhood and levirate marriage.
