Summary: A widow that has only two daughters is being manhandled by her brothers-in-law. She gets a surprise help from an affluent widow and later, on her advice, forms a widows’ association, the women’s cot, meant to shelter them from maltreatment and gets them support from the courts. This association soon turns into a marine cult. It will take time and patience to destroy the marine queen and stop the unlawful killing of husbands. A criticism of women’s liberation movements and passionate denunciation of the plight of widows, that also reveals the power of cults and their involvement in politics.
