As part of Astrobiology OU, our researchers investigate how microorganisms can live in extreme environments on Earth and in space.
Our researchers specialise in:
We are interested in how the environment affects microbial communities and the role these organisms have in changing the environment. These organisms, and the environments in which they live, can be used as analogues for space and potential life that might be found there, and are used to guide future life detection missions.
